Welcome to the last week of Term 3.
This morning we farewelled our Year 12, Class of 2020, at a Graduation Mass followed by an Awards Ceremony.
This Year 12 class have experienced a final year of schooling unlike any other. During this year they have shown themselves to be students of strong character, resilience, perseverance and kindness to each other. They have a real love of life and have thoroughly enjoyed their various activities this week. There is no doubt that they have enthusiastically taken on the various dress-up challenges presented to them!
The end of formal schooling is a time of both sadness and anticipation. Sadness to be leaving friends, teachers and the school environment but also a sense of anticipation as the next chapter of life unfolds. I would sincerely hope that the education that each student has received at Hennessy will provide them with Christian values which will give them a moral compass as they travel through life. It is always a great joy to hear stories from past students so I would encourage them to keep in touch.
Another sad farewell for the College was the funeral for Mr Brett Cowan on Saturday morning at the College. Mr Cowan joined the College in 2005 and was much loved by staff and students. His funeral was attended by many Hennessy staff and students, past students, friends and family. His farewell was a real celebration of his life and was testament to a man of great integrity, generosity and a real love of life. He will be greatly missed.
I would like to wish you all a safe and relaxing holiday. School returns for students on Tuesday, October 13.
Take care.

YEAR 11 EXAMINATIONS
Well done Year 11 on a smooth examination period. Your behaviour has been excellent and the way which you approached each exam impressive.
Next term you will start to get some feedback – it’s really important that you work out what you do well and what you need to improve.
Remember that all tasks are an opportunity for learning and we learn and get better from our mistakes.
The transition to Year 12 will start in Week 2 and it is after this point you will be able to discontinue subjects and change the level of your class in SOR, English and Maths. Maths Extension 2 and History Extension 2 will also start from Week 2 onwards.
We have been busily visiting classrooms, especially Year 7 over the past week and are pleased with all the wonderful things they are doing in class. It’s also lovely to be invited to come and watch speeches or to see the final products of tasks they are working on
What a term it has been - have a wonderful and relaxing holiday.

Wellbeing at Hennessy
Last week members of the SWAG group, Charlotte and Emily and House Captain Emily had the opportunity to take part in a work shop with Australian of the Year Professor Tim Flannery. Sustainability is one of the goals of both the newly elected Student Leadership Team and SWAG. The workshop allowed the students to explore practical ways to begin Sustainability at the College whilst receiving feedback from leading international voices in the field. The students have already put in place processes to reach their goals.
As we break for our term break I encourage all students to challenge themselves and go for at least 3 days free of social media, gaming and all electronic distractions. As parents I recommend to you the link following link to the Esafety commissioner with tips on controlling children on line.

Hoping all students have a safe and well deserved break.

Religious Education - Yr 12 from the perspective of a Yr 7
Year 12 in the last week of school
From the Perspective of year 7!
DAY 1:
Day one, we entered school to see the Year 12s dressed up. We had no clue of what was happening, until we realised they had to dress up as something starting with the first letter of their names. There were so many different costumes and they were all so creative. We watched as they walk through the school.
Day 2:
Day two,we were all talking, all of a sudden we see Year 12 walking in looking like old people. We thought they had escaped from the retirement home.
Day 3:
The Year 12s entered the school, some on push bikes and some on scooters. They were dressed in primary school uniforms. We all recognised the uniforms from our old school.
