Welcome to Term 2.
I hope all families had a restful, Holy Easter. It has been lovely to see our Hennessy students return in winter uniform and with smiles!
Staffing News
I would like to welcome some new teaching staff to our community:
Mr Luke Miller: former Assistant Principal and Director of Mission Trinity Catholic College Lismore will be replacing Dean Faught as a HSIE teacher he will also be teaching RE and acting as Director of Students for term 2. He is highly experienced and will be an asset to our school. He is moving to Boorowa with his Wife and 4 children to be closer to family.
Mr Warren Bell- will be joining us replacing Naomi Elliott in HSIE and English. Warren has been working in Cootamundra at Cootamundra High for the last 12 months and has come from a banking background.
Ms Kelly Byrne who is a familiar face at Hennessy will be joining us 3 days per week this term covering PDHPE for Jessica McInerney whilst she is on maternity leave.
Mr Peter Carroll has joined the staff as a relief teacher for the first 4 weeks of the term. Peter comes to us from WA where he had a 35 + year career as a school leader and Physics teacher.
We are currently recruiting a full time relief teacher to the College for the remainder of the year. This will support staff and students as the successful candidate will be a full time addition to our staff ensuring continuity for students and the wider teaching program. This is the first time a position of this nature has been offered in the Archdiocese.
New families
I would like to extend a warm welcome to several new families and their children who have joined the Hennessy Community this term. We are blessed to have 4 new students joining us.
College Events
I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to Mr Major Mitchell and all Hennessy staff who coordinated our very moving ANZAC service on Tuesday.
The Debutante Ball is fast approaching and it is shaping up to be a spectacular evening. On behalf of the Community Council, I would like to thank the parents and staff involved and the organising committee for making this event happen for our Year 11’s.
Next week we celebrate Catholic Schools week in the Archdiocese and Hennessy is proud to be participating in a joint Mass next Friday with St Mary’s to celebrate Catholic Education in the western region.
I am proud to be hosting the Western Region Principals and Catholic Education staff at Hennessy next week. At this meeting, the principals discuss strategic issues for our schools. A priority focus for this meeting is ensuring we manage principal wellbeing to enable us to continue to deliver high quality teaching and learning across our region to all students.

ASSESSMENT AND LEARNING HANDBOOKS
These are available on the College website and Hennessy Student Drive under Assessment and Forms.
It is vital all students are aware of policies relating to assessment. This especially relates to:
- Illness/Misadventure
- Procedures when absent
- Extensions
- Appeals
- Penalties for not following the correct procedure.
Students not following the correct procedures may find that they have incurred a penalty of the loss of all marks for a task or a Warning Letter. These have been posted to Compass several times as well as listed on classroom House pages. If in any doubt, students should always see their class teacher first and before tasks are due to ensure they are aware of what is permissible. However, I must approve all extensions, Illness/Misadventure applications and Appeals. The protocols and procedures are to ensure equity for all students.
