Mission & Ministry Report

It has been yet another wonderful start to the term at Hennessy. This term we have already been on Year 11 Retreat enjoying each others company - the students were open to all of the ideas and really lived the experience of Salt and Light. Some comments from the students are below.

The final liturgy helped to tie the whole retreat together nicely and was a good way to reflect before heading home. The affirmations are a really good idea because we get to see how our peers perceive us and get to be reminded that we are all an important part of our Hennessy community and that we all have something unique and interesting to offer.

Scavenger hunts are always a classic and always lots of fun, it allowed us to explore the grounds of the monastery a little more and I liked that we had to do it in our birth month groups allowing us to connect and make more friendships within our year. The serving experiment was really good as it was able to teach us a serious message in a fun and interactive way. Mr Miller sharing was one of THE BEST parts of the retreat. At every retreat at least one teacher should share a life story like that especially if they are a new teacher because it always ends up being one of the best most memorable parts (like Mrs Wright on year 10), it allows us to connect and see you as more than just our teachers, reminding us that school is just one part of your life the same as us.

The liturgy was a good idea, I really enjoyed it, I personally think it allowed to see who truly cared about you. Variety night was so fun, loved the acts and it was a good show when Amelia and Baker did their performance.

Unfortunately the Mr Miller vs Mrs Wright footrace was postponed due to weather conditions. However the opinion polls highly favoured a Mrs Wright domination as per usual.
