Leaders Lounge — Edition 2
Welcome to the second edition of Leaders Lounge!
On Wednesday 26 October we celebrated the month of “Socktober” where the school got to put on their funkiest socks to raise awareness about mental health. The whole school had great fun wearing and decorating their own socks and a few students even walked away with some prizes. We were also able to raise some money in support of Mission Australia. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this fund.
On 1 November we celebrated “Movember” as well as the Melbourne Cup. Our year 12’s looked particularly stunning in their 1920’s fashions whilst the rest of the school was adorned in their creative interpretations of “Fashes and Staches”. A big congratulations to Gold Trip, the winning horse of the day! We are also looking forward to seeing the progression of the boys’ mo’s on the MoBro’s page. The generous gold coin donations of this day’s events were donated to Vinnies so again thank you for everyone’s contribution and participation in this fun day!
In the spirit of our ‘Living Spiritually’ motto, our CSYMA (Catholic Schools Youth Ministry Australia) students were fortunate enough to have attended the SHINE conference in Canberra. This was a great opportunity for the year 9 and 10 students to meet other students from around the Archdiocese who are also involved in CSYMA. The school is looking forward to seeing their newly acquired skills in action as they lead retreats in the coming weeks.
Another proud moment for Hennessy on the ‘Learn Dynamically’ front is the selection of 4 young ladies, Elisabeth Hall, Emily Pratt, Hayley Grotegoed and Jorja O’Brien into the University of Canberra Fast Forward Program. They have been chosen along with only 21 other students across the region to participate in a range of opportunities during their final year of school that will help to prepare them for university. This is indeed an exceptional achievement for these girls.
Lastly, our netball enthusiasts were very lucky to attend a Netball Workshop hosted by former Australian Diamonds player, Susan Pettit. Susan equipped our students with some handy exercises and tips that will help them to improve their netball game for the 2023 All Schools Netball Cup.
I sincerely hope that the achievements of our talented students over the past few weeks will inspire all the students of Hennessy to chase their goals and dreams and make them a reality. In the words of Ken Poirot, “Today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow you want.”
Have a fantastic week!
