FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Year 12 Trial Feedback

Congratulations to Year 12 on an amazing effort in the Trials and attending all exams as scheduled. Now comes THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME where you can value add from your results. So not the time to slow down but to ramp up as the end is in sight.

Feedback is very valuable but the most important is the feedback you give yourselves:

  • What did I do well?
  • What would I do differently if I could do this again?

Listen to your teachers and act on the advice given. I suspect many students did not get the results they would have liked but this is most often not a reflection of capability but a lack of sufficient and effective preparation. Completing past papers is the key - do them often and submit them for marking.

Here are some useful tips for exam preparation -

  • Which ones were used?
  • Which ones will you use for the HSC exams?

Many classes are still covering course content so there may not be much time for revision - therefore it’s vital that students start now.

Next Tuesday we will commence the final confirmation of entry during the SWS period. This is so we can ensure all courses and examinations are entered correctly.

We also have a number of practical HSC exams this term - good luck to everyone!

Subject Selections Update

Year 11 2023 - The lines have been released and I have started meeting with Year 10 students who have a clash that is not resolved by lower preferences. I will start meeting with all other students next week to sort out their Maths and English classes. They may also request changes at this time.

Stage 5 2023 - Students may still request changes. I will republish the lines next week of updated classes. .

Year 11 End of Course Examinations

The Year 11 End of Course examinations will take place between Thursday 15th-Thursday 22nd September. The exam timetable is now final.

FROM THE DIRECTOR OF STUDIES

While the focus in Term 3 is on the senior students’ preparations for their end of course exams, there is a lot of work occurring in the junior school. All students in Years 7-10 have class activities and tasks that their teachers will be using to assess student abilities. It is important for our junior students to prioritise these tasks and complete them to the best of their ability. One vital skill for students to develop in their junior years is to actively seek feedback from their teachers while they are working on tasks in class - not just waiting for feedback at the end. This gives teachers the opportunity to support their students and clarify misconceptions and students can ensure that the new learning focus is applied immediately. Good luck to all Hennessy students as they continue to grow and learn.
