Mac Anderson, the founder of a very successful company in inspirational posters once said “Great leadership usually starts with a willing heart, a positive attitude and a desire to make a difference”. At Hennessy Catholic College we take each of these aspects of leadership seriously and guide our community members under the gospel values. 

Our willing heart demonstrates we know what is right, we have the ability to choose our actions and want what is best for that was held on Monday in Period 3 with 25 willing Year 10 students who will be leading the Year 6 regional Journey with Jesus retreat on November 4th here at Hennessy. The growth in leadership and faith that the Year 10’s have demonstrated has been outstanding. Their willingness to share their faith journey - whatever that is with each other has also been incredibly humbling and I have been so proud to see them develop their skills.

A positive attitude has been demonstrated in our Year 9 Rewards program winners. 37 students have been asked to take part in the program and we are in the process of finalising the details of their chosen reward. I encourage all Year 9 students to keep demonstrating this great attitude to partake in this program as we continue refining this program we will roll this out to other year levels.

The desire to make a difference was evident in the 19 outstanding candidates that stood for leadership in front of the school last week. These students are all invited to continue their leadership journey with a leadership retreat program in Term 4. Congratulations to the 10 students who were elected by the school to be part of the official leadership team. I look forward to working with Mrs MvInerney and the Leadership Team to define their roles at the upcoming retreat in Week 1 of Term 4.
