CG Basketball
Hennessy once again competed in the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese Basketball Tournament held in Tuggeranong on Friday 31st May. As always the Hennessy players were fantastic ambassadors for the College. While we weren’t hugely successful on the scoreboard front, the sportsmanship, camaraderie, perseverance and general good spirits displayed by all the students throughout the day gives testimony to their character.
From the coaches…
The Year 7/8 Girls put in an amazing effort against some very experienced teams. After a difficult first game the girls didn’t give up but tried their best in every game afterwards. The girls demonstrated perseverance, a positive attitude and were very encouraging of each other. Well done! Best and Fairest goes to Matilda Wark. Mr Logan
The Year 7/8 Boys Team represented the College in fantastic spirit and should be commended for their hard work and sportsmanship. Although they didn't walk away with a medal they persisted and improved every game. Best and Fairest goes to Brody Smith. Miss Worner
The 9/10 Girls played with great heart all day and showed improvement in both defensive and offensive play. They never gave up and came very close to winning but for some inaccurate shooting. Best and Fairest goes to Brodie Batinich. Mrs Hibbert
The 9/10 Boys had great fun throughout the day and we very competitive in every game and kept the opposition on their toes. They came away from the day with 2 wins and 2 losses. Fantastic sportsmanship was shown by all the boys. Best and Fairest goes to Kody Thompson. Mrs Tanner
The Senior Girls started with a bang narrowly losing their first match but then were outplayed by their stronger opponents. However, they played their hearts out and were competitive in every game. Best and Fairest goes to Ellie Silk. Mrs Hibbert
The Senior Boys team found themselves in a three team round robin playing games against Carroll College and Lumen Christi. The boys competed hard all day with a high level of effort and camaraderie. It was very rewarding to see all of them score points throughout the day as well as place a lot of pressure on their opponents when in defense. Best and Fairest goes to Angus Jones. Luke Miller
