Year 7 & 8 students

Registrations for UN Youth NSW Junior Leadership Weekend 2019 are now open!

On 7th – 8th September 2019, more than 100 students from years 7-8 from across the state will meet at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation, Narrabeen, to take part in Junior Leadership Weekend. They will learn about leadership and advocacy and will participate in informative workshops, skills seminars, innovative Youth Action sessions and hear from accomplished guest speakers!

The conference theme will be Putting Gender on the Agenda. Gender equality is a fundamental human right, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone around the world receives equal access to opportunities because of their gender.

Our goal is to dissect how diverse communities experience the global gender gap, the role that the media play in fuelling gender-based rhetoric, and particularly looking at this in the context of international and domestic politics. We think that this is imperative for students to try and understand, as they can definitely play a large role in making a change, even if they don't know it!

They will also form incredible friendships with a diverse students from all around NSW.

It will be a fantastic opportunity which hopes to provide these young students the tools and skills needed to inspire action and change within their local communities, and eventually the world!

UNSW HSC Maths Course Selection Advice

With subject selection coming up in early Term 3 you may want to look at some information from the Uni of NSW about maths.

While we encourage everyone to study the level of maths at which they feel sufficiently challenged, below are some guidelines for the minimum level of maths required for some of our degrees. Please also see Assumed Knowledge for more information. Studying at least HSC Mathematics Extension 1 will leave your options open when you choose your university degree. Knowledge of mathematics is a useful skill in any profession, even if it is not required for a particular course. No doubt, you will have to use mathematical tools such as graphs and statistics for the rest of your life. Learning mathematics also teaches you to approach problems in a systematic and logical way. This is a transferable skill that is particularly important in project management and it is an important skill for life.
