AFTERNOON STUDY CHANGES – TERM 3
From Term 3 onwards afternoon study will be held from 3.30-4.30 only on Wednesday of each week. We have found that very few students are requiring study assistance and possibly utilising:
- Google docs – and getting feedback on tasks as they go
- Greater class time – therefore their teachers can assist them more readily
- Using the ongoing assessment model means no huge assessment tasks all due at once
In weeks 2 and 3, study will be staffed for Year 12 students after 4.30 up until approximately 6pm if they wish additional support in the lead up to the HSC Trial Examinations.
SUBJECT SELECTIONS 2020
Subject selections for 2020 will commence this term with Years 8 and 9 choosing their 2020 electives. This will be on 25th June with a Parent Information Evening to be held the same night commencing at 6pm in E9. Students can now access a Stage 5 Elective booklet via the Student Drive and the House Google classroom page and selections will take place from 9am Wednesday 26 June to 5pm Monday 1 July.
Year 11 2020 will select early in term 3 on July 25th with an information evening the same night starting at 6.30pm, although the subject market will be open from 5.30pm in the Hall.
HSC TRIAL EXAMINATION TIMETABLE
This is under construction and will be available to students via their Year 12 classroom page as early as next week.
PARENT/TEACHER STUDENT CONFERENCES 1 AUGUST
Year 7-11 reports will be posted by the end of term. Please note the Year 7-11 PTS interviews will be from 8am-6pm on Thursday 1 August (week 2, Term 3). A letter will accompany reports with the access code, which will also be available on all House classroom pages and Compass in Week 10. Year 12 will have normal classes on that day but all other classes will be cancelled.
CONTACTING STAFF MEMBERS
This is a reminder that all communication to staff must be through the College via email or calling the College directly. Staff are only required to respond during reasonable school hours and when they are able too.
ASSESSMENT AND LEARNING HANDBOOKS
These are available on the College website and Hennessy Student Drive under Assessment and Forms.
It is vital all students are aware of policies relating to assessment. This especially relates to:
- Illness/Misadventure
- Procedures when absent
- Extensions
- Appeals
- Penalties for not following the correct procedure.
If in any doubt, students should always see their class teacher first and before tasks are due to ensure they are aware of what is permissible. However, I must approve all extensions, Illness/Misadventure applications and Appeals. The protocols and procedures are to ensure equity for all students.
