Lunchtime Basketball Comp - Winners
Last Thursday saw the Basketball Competition come to a close, our top four teams finishing very close with 1st on 26points down to 4th on 21points.
GAME 1: TMRS A took the win with 4 points, over YZAC on 2 points. The game was physical to start with lots of contests for the ball, unfortunately YZAC who were in contention for the win just could not get the basketball into the hoop. Liam Birks was left open on a few occasions so he was successful in taking the baskets for the team.
GAME 2: TMRS B (6) V FTC (11)– The game was a draw on 13 all at the conclusion of the game. Therefore it had to go into overtime, both teams working hard in defence and attack. Hardy Glover bringing the ball down the court well and leading his teammates around the court. Jack Apps putting up some excellent shots, however, being shot down by Blake Ferguson in defence. Mitchell Prest was strong in the circle, his height gave a clear advantage for his baskets. However, it was Seth Schulz’ 3 pointer that gave them the win.
GRAND FINAL: FTC (17) V TMRS A (13). The game was one of skill and class. The boys worked hard in their attack and defence. However, the Year 12 teamwork allowed them to work the ball around the key a lot stronger than the Year 9 boys. James Payne was an all-rounder, moved the ball well, and had clear vision, getting a lot of offloads to Liam Birks. Joey McIntosh was well-spoken which helped lead the team and where they needed to be in attack. The Year 12s defence was just too strong, Year 9 had a lot of chances on their foul shots however, just could not sink the basket.

The Player of the Grand Final went to James Payne.
Well done to all involved.
