Wellbeing @ Hennessy

On Monday I spoke to the students about their appearance and uniform. I reminded the students that whilst the College has a fantastic facilities and a dedicated staff. The College’s greatest assets is the students and that the students reflect pride in themselves and the College by the care they take with their appearance. Students were made aware of the College’s expectations in relation to uniform and general appearance and that the correct wearing of the uniform is a condition of their enrolment at the College. The vast majority of students accepted this and students were looking very respectable.

If a student is unable to wear the correct uniform a note is required from home at the start of the day stating what part of the uniform is missing and when it will be able to be addressed. I appreciate as a father of teenagers, the Monday morning reveal of a missing tie,  jumper or uniform left out in the rain. A note from home is all that is required

The College continues to work with students to educate them about the dangers of Vaping. As part of this we have limited their ability to use the toilets as a place to vape. As always the toilets are locked during class time and open before school, during the breaks and after school. Students need to organise themselves during breaks. If they need to go to the bathroom during class they need to collect a key from the front office and return it to the front office.

We have been unable to secure an immersion for this year. We have potentially locked in an immersion to Darwin in 2022 during the term 2 holidays. Hopefully more details to follow

A big thank you to Mrs. Brooke McCann who organised and took the year 7 Dancing Troupe to the Cowra Eisteddfod. The girls had a fantastic time and were just beaten into 2nd place by 2 points. A big thank you also to Elisabeth Hall and Hayley Grotegoed who gave up numerous lunchtimes to instruct the girls. All the girls involved were a credit to the College.

As always if you have any concerns please contact your child’s PC teacher, House leader or any member of the College’s Wellbeing Team

With thanks
