Year 10 Work Experience 2019
Mr Cowan and I have spoken to Year 10 students about work experience for 2019. This is a wonderful opportunity to try a career that the student is interested in and it can help them decide that the career is or isn’t for them which is important.
Organising work experience takes time and requires a lot of documentation so students should be having discussions with you about where they are going and who they are going with now. Students are able to travel anywhere for work experience however, parents will be responsible for all travel costs and accommodation. Students will require a family member or close family friend to accompany them. Once the student has decided where they would like to go they need to approach the employer directly and see if they are happy to host them on the dates indicated. If the employer agrees the student will advise us and we will follow up with documentation. We will need a name, email address, postal address and contact number to be able to do this.
The official designated week for work experience is December 2-6 however, some organisations who offer work experience specify set dates. Mr Cowan and I will look at each request and make a decision on a case-by-case basis.
Yesterday I posted several work experience opportunities onto the google careers classroom page. We have also advised students about activities they cannot do and this is attached for your information.
We would like every year 10 student to have an idea about where they are going by the end of term 1.
Please have a discussion with your child about possible options and feel free to phone or email Mr Cowan or me on Leanne.mcgrath@cg.catholic.edu.au if you need further information.
