Principal's Report

Welcome to Week 4. I would like to begin this newsletter with the announcement of two staff resignations. Mr Andrew Morton has been offered the position of Principal at Ltyentye Apurte Catholic School in Santa Teresa, Northern Territory. This is a wonderful opportunity for him, and we will miss his leadership and positive approach to both his role and the Hennessy community. Mr Morton is very well-liked for his easy-going sense of humour and has earned the respect of staff and students due to his generous and supportive nature.

Mrs Emily Yeo (Rogers) has also tendered her resignation from Hennessy, effective from the end of this year. Mrs Yeo is returning to the family farm and is seeking employment in the Bathurst Diocese. She is a much respected colleague who has shown her versatility, patience and outstanding teaching skills during her time at Hennessy and will be greatly missed.

We wish Mrs Yeo and Mr Morton all the best for the next chapter in their careers and thank them for all they have done during their time at Hennessy.

I would also like to congratulate Mr Simon Quinn who has been appointed as Religious Education Leader in a permanent capacity. Simon has already shown his passion and talent in this role, and we are very fortunate to have him in this position in the future.

The annual Melbourne Cup festivities at Hennessy were held on Tuesday afternoon. Year 12 students should be commended for this excellent day. Students dressed up for the day and there were House stalls in the break to raise funds for the St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal, the day finished with a fashion parade and activities on the oval. There was a very high level of participation and a strong sense of inclusion for all students. The day was also lots of fun and a great community event - well done to all involved!

On Wednesday we hosted our third Year 7 2025 Orientation Day. It was wonderful to see the Year 6 students return to reunite with their new friends from their previous visits and to show more confidence in being part of the Hennessy community. In the evening we help an information session which was an opportunity for parents of Year 7 2025 to find out more about what 2025 will be like for their child.

Yesterday was the final HSC Examination for Hennessy students. We eagerly await their results on December 18 and look forward to celebrating with them at their Graduation DInner next Friday night.
