Year 9/10 Food Tech
Year 9/10 Food Tech have begun with the unit, Food Equity, looking at the imbalance in food resources/availability/choices/nutrition that has become a big issue in our world today.
To represent this in our classroom, we made pancakes and each student was given a different topping which represented food inequity. Some students devoured pancakes with ice cream, chocolate, strawberries and whipped cream, while others enjoyed butter, sugar, lemon. Those who really realised the issue of food inequity in our classroom, ate their pancakes with no toppings, eyeing off the treats their classmates were enjoying.
