The Leaders Lounge - Student Leadership Article

Welcome back to the second instalment of the leaders lounge brought to you by the leaders of the best house, Paul and Fraser.

With a great start to the first half of term 4 Hennessy has had an amazing week, with Socktober giving students the opportunity to get involved with the school community. During Socktober each PC had the opportunity to personalise and design their own pair of socks. Then Tuesday morning, PC representatives prepared their amazing modelling skills to wow the judges with their crazy socks and present them to the whole school, each pair showing amazing creativity and innovation. Donations collected during PC and from the wild soccer shootout, carried out by our captains, went towards Catholic Mission to help in assisting underdeveloped communities that lack resources.

Over the weekend Hennessy also helped facilitate the Community Spring Fair which a whopping 20 students came and helped with on the day, from cooking up some of Mrs Wright's A-grade chips to painting the faces of many kids (and James Payne the Gallagher Lion). The fair was a major success thanks to the help from Hennessy students, the community coming together and the many talented performers.

Coming up, Melbourne Cup Day! This Tuesday Hennessy will take part in the Melbourne Cup, with stalls during breaks 1 and 2, minute to win it challenges, and fashions on the field with the theme ‘Movies’. Stalls for breaks 1 and 2 will consist of drinks, chocolate dipped strawberries, a BBQ and cakes which will raise money to go towards St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. Progressing on to activities students will be able to take to the stage for fashions on the field and show their school spirit in the challenges that the school captains have cooked up along with movie and Melbourne Cup themed trivias. With Tuesday nearing we can't wait to see what everyone has planned for their dress-ups for Melbourne Cup, I know we sure can't wait to show off ours!

Don't forget to keep involved during PC there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved and gain some points for your house. With the Parish mass this Saturday and plenty of help needed running stalls for Melbourne Cup there are tonnes of opportunities to get involved and win the House Cup. Overall it has been an amazing first half to term 4 with many more amazing weeks to come!

Thanks for tuning into this week's edition of “The Leaders Lounge!”

Keep on carrying the boats,
