Mission & Ministry Report

I would like to congratulate the students who recently went for student leadership, we are incredibly lucky to have a large range of quality young men and women who have put their hands up for leadership.

The 2023/2024 Student Leadership Team consists of;

College Captains James Payne & Jasmine Sullivan

Gallagher Captains Fraser Johnson & Paul Barrett

McAuley Captains Sarah McDonald & Oliver Baker

Nagle Captains Dieter Dickenson & Camden Cummins

Rice Captains Caitlin Drum & Amelia Rowan

The students will be inducted as College Leaders on Tuesday 17th October at a college Mass at 12pm. Parents/caregivers are welcome to attend in congratulating the incoming student leadership team.

Last week, I had the pleasure of accompanying the College CSYMA students to a Youth conference in Canberra called SHINE. They joined with other young leaders from across our archdiocesan who are leading students through their spiritual journeys. I would like to thank Miss Coffee for accompanying the students and allowing them the opportunity to grow as young leaders. We also had the pleasure of sharing a beautiful Mass and breakfast for our Father's Day celebrations at St Mary’s Parish, thank you to all those who attended.

Our Student Leaders are in the process of planning a range of activities for RUOK week, these have been designed for all students to be involved in, they have planned a range of activities for all students which commenced today with our very own Jack Murphy hosting the second "Rave in the Cave" music session during the breaks and next Thursday 14th September, they will be cooking hot chips for the students/staff of Hennessy for the cost of $3.50, students can pre-order via QKR as well as, there will be some available on the day. If you would like more information on how to start a conversation visit the RUOK website. https://www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

This term has allowed so many opportunities for our students of Hennessy as such, the House Cup is highlighting the incredible range of activities the students are involved in – well done to all students embracing the opportunities available. Here is our current leaderboard update for the Term
Gallagher - 167
Nagle - 167
McAuley - 126
Rice - 117

I would also like extend my gratitude to Mrs Janice Dunk for all the hard work and organisation that goes into the House Cup and recognising students’ achievements.

Congratulations to Mrs Maryann Schiller and the students/families of Nagle for a very successful Dine and Donate on Tuesday evening, from this evening they were able to prepare 68 meals for individuals in need in our community. Well done to all involved.

This week our year level captains have been running a range of activities for the junior students, congratulations to Year 8 & Year 9 who will play off in a final of Volleyball next week. Today, we are hosting a spelling bee, I look forward to seeing our champion spellers.

Next Tuesday 12th September, we are hosting our end of term College assembly which we will recognise a range of student’s achievements throughout the term. Parents/caregivers are welcome to attend, this will be held in the College Hall commencing at 8:50am.

Yesterday, we hosted the Mass for Mary, which was a combined Mass with the students from Years 3 – 6 at St Mary’s Primary School. It was such a lovely Mass and so well received by the students. Following the Mass the Years 9 – 10 CSYMA Leaders coordinated a Confirmation Retreat with the support of Miss Jessica Buchanan for the Year 6 students. The day was so beautiful and engaging. A massive thank you to Miss Jessica Buchanan, Miss Emily Coffee and Mrs Mary Wright for the organisation of the CYSMA students this year.
