Principal's Report

Welcome to the last newsletter for Term 2. This has been a busy but very productive term with lots of quality learning experiences both in and outside the classroom. I had the great pleasure of attending the Variety Night last Tuesday night. I was extremely impressed by both the quality and variety of acts on the evening. The students were very well prepared and performed professionally and to a consistently high standard. The joy they showed in performing was very obvious!  A huge thank you to, Mrs McLachlan, Mrs Riordan and Mrs Hill for their organisation for this successful event.. Creative Arts is certainly thriving at Hennessy!

We will have several staffing changes for the start of next term. In previous newsletters, I mentioned that Mrs Close and Mrs Igoe-Taylor will be leaving. Mrs Morgan is also leaving Hennessy and we wish her all the best.

Miss Emily Rogers, Miss Cassie McLachlan and Mrs Amy Mergard will be joining the Hennessy staff for the remainder of the year to cover this movement. Mrs Hill will also be working with Mrs McLachlan as Creative Arts Leader.

Today, the student leaders ran an assembly to farewell Bec White, our canteen manager, who has been working at Hennessy for nearly fifteen years. During this time she has fed many, many hungry students and teachers. Students will fondly remember her for her famous ‘chicken schnitty’ burgers. A huge thank you and best wishes to Bec for all she has done over the years.

Mrs. Leanne Hardy will also be joining the staff next term as the Principal’s Assistant. She has worked at Hilltops Council for many years as an Executive Assistant and will bring a wealth of experience and skills to this role.

The Year 10 students were very enthusiastic and grateful for the opportunity to attend their ski trip last week. Apparently, the snow was perfect and there were many tales of successes and adventures on the slopes. Thank you to Mrs Wright, Miss Woods, Mr Mergard, Mr Croese and Mrs Hudson for attending this trip. Thank you to Mrs Cass for taking on the organisation of this excursion.

The Cambodia Immersion trip is well underway. Students are really enjoying their experience and apparently having an amazing time but also finding the high temperatures a bit challenging.

During the break, I will be overseas on a study tour so for any urgent matters please email Mrs Wright mary.wright@cg.ctholic.edu.au

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our families for their support this term and to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.
